As a Man Thinketh

I am always looking for good books to read. I like checking out other peoples favorite book. I recently read The Secret and You’ve Got to Read this Book, and As a Man Thinketh was mentioned in both books. So, I checked this book out at the library.

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen was written a long time ago (I searched the book for a copyright date and it doesn’t have one), I think around the turn of the century.

This one is a small book (about 4″ wide x 5″ tall) with only only 72 pages. It resembles a children’s book, it is that small, but the information inside is big. I was surprised when I picked it up at the library to find such a tiny book. The librarian sad small books like this one can take longer to read than big books because you must think about the message.

The message in the book is simple, “The themselves are makers of themselves.” Simply put, your thoughts create your life. The book is just that simple. I enjoyed reading it the first time because it reinforces the law of attraction.

I think the writer puts a little too much negative stuff in to explain the positive stuff. I started to reread this little book but found myself disappointed and not very interested.

I think you will find this book very helpful if you are in the early stages of learning the law of attraction but if you are already practicing it it will not be new material.

Best Wishes.

Take the Jung Personality Test

I stumbled upon this interesting test and I want to share it. It will describe your personality and give you a list of career choices that are best for you. It will also give you a list of disfavored career choice if you click to find more info about your jung type.

Here is my results which I found to be quite accurate. I took the test twice and received the same response.

ENFJ - “Persuader”. Outstanding leader of groups. Can be aggressive at helping others to be the best that they can be. 2.5% of total population.

Free Jung Personality Test (similar to Myers-Briggs/MBTI)

I would love to hear what you think of this test and its results.

Best Wishes!

Stumble Upon!

I have been “stumbling around” all day and I think (no, I know) I am getting addicted.  I am new to Stumble Upon.  I started my account last week and have slowly figured out how to use it.  It is great fun once you figure it out.

Do you know what Stumble Upon is?
It is a network of users that tag website they “stumble upon” when they are out surfing the net.  By clicking the “I like it!” button on the Stumble Upon tool bar in your browser (when you sign up you download the tool bar quickly and easily) you notify Stumble Upon about that website, blog, video or podcast.  It is really quite simple.  Stumble Upon keeps a list of all your “stumbles” and you can share them with other users.
There is also a “Stumble” button on the tool bar, if you are looking for something new out on the web you click the “Stumble!” button and a random website will appear based on the interests you clicked when you set up your account.

You can also join groups in the Stumble Upon community and view and share other users lists of “Stumbles”.

I spent and hour this morning clicking the “Stumble!” button and finding many interesting sites.

Here are a some of my stumbles …

Never been to Paris?  This site gives you a panoramic view from the Eiffel tower. Really cool!

Draw on an Etch-a-Sketch.  It feels like the real thing.  I am not any better at drawing on this old time favorite than when I was a kid.  I will have to practice.

Angeling Around a clock with an angel swinging from it.  Click on the clock and the angel starts swinging with your mouse you can move the clock and the angel.

I love this guy’s sidewalk art, you’ve got to check it out.

You probably know I love to read and I am always looking for a good book.  Here is a list of 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die.

If you would like to see my entire list of stumbles click on the Stumble Upon button in the far left menu.  Go to Stumble Upon and start your own account, but I warn you, it is addicting!

Enjoy!

Little People, Big World!

I catch this show every Monday night at 8 pm on TLC. If you like good, wholesome, family entertainment then I recommend you tune in.

Little People, Big World is a reality show starring the Roloff’s - Amy and Matt (little people) and their children, twins Zach (also a little person) and Jeremy, Molly and Jacob (all average height).

This show has drama but not the kind of made up drama that you see on Survivor (cut throat), Real World (drunken and belligerent) or the Bachelor (never going to marry the girl in the end anyway, so why bother). I have cried with the Roloff’s. Last fall Jacob was injured on their farm and the drama was on high. I have celebrated with the Roloff’s when Matt helped a five year old LP (little person) be adopted by a couple in California.

They are an average family with above average hopes and dreams and they make their dreams happen even though they are “disadvantaged”. It is amazing to see how the world is not geared toward them like when Amy goes shopping and can’t reach shelves over 4 feet tall. (I feel her pain. I am 5 foot 2 inches and don’t feel built for the world we live in, I am thankful for my height now.) Or when Matt fought with the county over a height requirement on hand railing on his deck that would be dangerous for someone his size.

The Roloff’s give everyone a glimpse of their lives. Amy always say, “We can do anything normal people can do, just differently.” Nothing stops them from living a normal life in a world built for “normal” people.

The love that oozes from this show is contagious. I would rename the show Little People Big Hearts! Congrats Roloff’s and TLC on a great family show!

Enjoy!
