Miracle Prayer, the New Bible

(This post was originally posted on July 18, 2007, due to technical difficulties I had to delete it and repost it on July 20, 2007)

I have read The Secret and about twenty (if not one hundred) books on changing your thinking, thinking positively and acting as if you have everything you ever wanted. All these books tell you that by shifting your thinking you can change the entire world you live in.

It is all true. But if you are like me thinking, believing and doing doesn’t always come easy. You get stuck in the groove of your past thinking and praying and can’t seem to pull out of the groove. (Funny, I know this example was used in one of many books that I read.)

Since reading The Secret about a month ago, like the writer, Rhonda Byrne, I have been on a quest to really understand The Secret. Why does it work, what is at the root of the Law of Attraction. I know I have used the Law of Attraction in positive ways in my past (unfortunately mostly negative ways). Now I can identify when I used the law to bring exactly what I wanted into my life consciously, and the negative things I really didn’t know I was attracting unconsciously.

Over the past month I have asked for more info and it has poured into my life. One of the most exciting books I have come a crossed is Miracle Prayer by Susan Shumsky, D.D. It has been the book that really connected everything for me. This book goes further than The Secret by explaining spiritually and scientifically how the Law of Attraction works and how you can change your thinking (and life) through prayer that works.

All prayer works, don’t get me wrong, but are your prayers really bringing about the change you want? This book will help you really pray for what you want and align you with God and your divine plan.

I am a library lover. I borrow all my books from the library. Some books that I really enjoy I borrow over and over again. I like Miracle Prayer so much that I am buying it, and The Secret, too. I know that these books were attracted to me and I am so thankful. I am going to use them everyday.

Miracle Prayer gives you affirmations and prayers to help you break negative thinking. It gives you a nine step plan to create your own scientific prayers to get what you want most in life. I was stuck in negative thinking patterns. Even when I was thinking positively I couldn’t get past my past. This book is helping me now.

I Am living in the NOW. Miracle Prayer got me out of my groove! By changing a few words in my prayers and self talk my energy level has increased to levels I have not felt in years and I am realizing my dreams NOW. It is so exciting and incredible!

This book breaks through the laws of society. Miracle Prayer teaches that we do not have to live in world ruled by the “Rich Get Richer, Poor get Poorer.” Believe and know that we are all rich and we are all getting RICHER! If we all change our beliefs we would not live in a world of poverty. I can see now how we have fallen into negative patterns and beliefs it is all around us. Labels are applied and we believe them.

I hope you will read Miracle Prayer and enjoy it as much as I am. I don’t think it replaces the Bible or any other religious scripture but it is a great companion.

Blessings Are Yours!

What is Your Life’s Purpose?

I am talking about your life purpose. You have probably heard of the purpose driven life. The fact is each of us is on earth to do something for the greater good, our purpose for being here on earth.

I recently discovered a great book, Breaking the Money Barriers by Dr. Michael J. Duckett, that has an exercise to help you find your purpose. With this exercise you will focus your life in the right direction. It is very simple. Everyone can do it.

Step 1: The Purpose Finder Exercise

Part 1: Divide a blank sheet of paper into four columns and the following four questions, on in each column left to right.

  • What do I love to do?
  • What am I good at?
  • What is important or essential to me for my life to be complete?
  • What was I born to do or feel I ought to be doing?

Do not censor or judge any of your answers. Just brainstorm. Simply write down everything that comes into your mind for each question until you run out of ideas.

Part 2: Look at the answers in each quadrant and ask yourself, “If I only had five years to live, which seven items in each category would I want to definitely accomplish?” Then select the top seven answers to each of the four questions.

Part 3: Select and prioritize the top three answers in each quadrant, and then compare them to each other. The similarities of all twelve answers (three from each quadrant) will weave together a purpose for your life.

Step 2: Write Your Purpose Statement

Ponder your answers above. You may even want to take a couple hours or days to let the answers soak in. Your purpose statement will come quickly and easily.

The exercise will help if you are feeling like your life is not on track. Do you feel like your job is bringing you down, like you were born to be doing something else? Maybe you want something more rewarding. Do not feel trapped. Use this exercise the discover what it is your heart desires and start living your life toward that. I know that you can do anything you want to do.

Best Wishes!

As a Man Thinketh

I am always looking for good books to read. I like checking out other peoples favorite book. I recently read The Secret and You’ve Got to Read this Book, and As a Man Thinketh was mentioned in both books. So, I checked this book out at the library.

As a Man Thinketh by James Allen was written a long time ago (I searched the book for a copyright date and it doesn’t have one), I think around the turn of the century.

This one is a small book (about 4″ wide x 5″ tall) with only only 72 pages. It resembles a children’s book, it is that small, but the information inside is big. I was surprised when I picked it up at the library to find such a tiny book. The librarian sad small books like this one can take longer to read than big books because you must think about the message.

The message in the book is simple, “The themselves are makers of themselves.” Simply put, your thoughts create your life. The book is just that simple. I enjoyed reading it the first time because it reinforces the law of attraction.

I think the writer puts a little too much negative stuff in to explain the positive stuff. I started to reread this little book but found myself disappointed and not very interested.

I think you will find this book very helpful if you are in the early stages of learning the law of attraction but if you are already practicing it it will not be new material.

Best Wishes.

Fall in Love at the Library

Do you love to read? I love to read. This is something fairly new to me because when I had to read in school I hated it. I would try to read an assignment in college and when I finished not one word sunk into my head. I would wait for the teacher’s discussion in class. Later in my college career I wouldn’t even attempt the reading assignments because I already told myself it wouldn’t sink in (more of that negative self talk).

I don’t know what changed but about four years ago I started devouring books. I felt like I was at a point in my life where I needed to do something to advance myself but I didn’t have the money or resources to go to college. The public library popped into my head and I headed there right away. My motto became, “If I have a question the answer is at the library.”

I would think of a topic and search it. I found so many wonderful books that helped me when I didn’t know which way to turn. I found the library consoling when I lost my dad. When you go through loss you have so many questions and most people don’t want you to talk about your loss. They think they are doing you a favor. I was able to find strength and answers at the library.

I have a great library only a few minutes from my home. If a book I am looking for is not at my library then it usually is somewhere in the district, which consists of 10 or 15 smaller libraries. I can request a book from a district library and within a couple days (usually one or two) I can pick the book up at my library.

I got my husband into reading about three years ago. He hurt his back and reading was the one thing he could do while laying a crossed the bed in pain. Now we both visit the library weekly. We can be spotted at the library at least twice a week, sometimes three times a week.

I have 23 books checked out right now. I have one fiction book, a couple books on home improvement ideas, a blogging book, a website promotion book, a few self help books, an autobiography, a book on spiritual connections and a few others.

And, I have to admit some of those 23 items are movies. We borrow DVDs and VHS tapes from the library too. We don’t always get the latest releases. We have to put those on hold and wait but it is free and we borrow the movies for 7 days. You can’t beat that. We used to spend a lot of money renting movies because we tend to watch movies more then television.

I have been able to read so many books that I probably would not have read if I was purchasing them.

The library is an adventure. If you haven’t visited your local library lately get there soon. You will discover the library is not the library you grew up with!

Best Wishes!

The Secret Part 2: Meet “Pos-o” and “Nego”

Last week, I started and finished The Secret by Rhonda Bryne and I loved it. I had a great week and will have many more … forever!

The book was exactly what I have been asking for. I recently was questioning my thinking. I was trying to manifest good things in my life but I was having trouble getting past my negative self-talk. I would say positive things and then my little voice would say, “but you can’t afford that.”

I call the little voice “Nego”. It has been holding me back for years. Recently, I was struggling with how to break it because it was telling the truth. How could I stop the madness? How do I talk to myself positively and achieve the things I wanted? I kept asking the Universe, God, even my husband. I have been waiting for an answer.

I got my answer in The Secret. The Law of Attraction is the “secret”. Like attracts like so, when “Nego” would tell me I couldn’t afford anything I believed it and attracted more thoughts of not affording my needs and wants.

Last Monday I started reading the book. I read half the book that first night. It was so powerful I felt an excitement inside of me that I haven’t felt in a long time (you know, like butterflies in your stomach). The really exciting thing was that it answered my question.

It wasn’t necessarily new information but it put all the things I knew about positive mental attitude together and gave me the secret to make them all work.

That night I couldn’t fall asleep (actually there have been many sleepless nights since then) because it got my mind running and motivated. I was imagining all the great things in my life. Somethings I already have and somethings I will have very soon.

I finished the book on Tuesday evening and learned about gratitude. Thanking God and the Universe for everything you have and everything you will have. I slept a little better the second night but I woke and got busy thanking God and the Universe for all the great things in my life before my feet even hit the floor. I do this any way but it feels so much more powerful now.

As my mind has been focusing on the postive, I am noticing that I pay attention to everything I say. If a say a sentence in conversation with someone (or to myself), I stop myself when the word NOT (or any other form of it, i.e. can’t) is in the sentence. I then replace that sentence with a positive sentence sometimes meaning the same thing but positive or something completely different. I analyze the sentence and sometimes conclude that it was a statement taking me in the wrong direction completely.

I cannot tell you how much better I feel. I know that I have used the principles of The Secret in my life many times before. I just didn’t know I was doing something so powerful and attracting the great things I received.

I mentioned old “Nego” earlier, well my new, big voice that I hear is “Pos-o” (pronounced pawso). “Pos’o” tells me great things. “Pos’o” loves me and knows that I can do anything because I have achieved great things many times before.

I am using visualization to change my thinking too. I see “Pos-o” in my mind as a stick figure with a big happy face in yellow. “Nego” is also a stick figure with a frown face in blue. “Pos-o” doesn’t care much for “Nego”, whenever “Nego” pops in my head with negative, limiting thoughts “Pos-o” shoots him with a bow and arrow. “Pos-o” smile gets bigger and I know I am defeating my negative thoughts. It is awesome!

I think the visualization has really helped me be more aware of my thoughts and that I have the power to control my thoughts and what is happening in my life. I have always had the power (and what great POWER!) but I was not using it properly.

If you are looking for the way to make you life better read or watch The Secret . If you want to stay the course with your life then don’t, it probably won’t help you unless you are seeking answers like I was.
