My One Month Anniversary Blogging

I have been working hard on the last few days learning more about blogging. There is always something to learn. I have been blogging now for one month I have learned a tremendous amount.

I have to tell you it has gone by quickly. I have been so busy absorbing everything I can. I want to be a great blogger but the only way I can get there is by putting in the hard work, right?

I have discovered several blogs that have been very helpful. In the beginning when I read many of the posts on these blogs the information almost sounded like a foreign language. I didn’t know what SEO was or difference between Blogger and Wordpress. It seemed like there were so many choices that I wasn’t sure I could comprehend this world.

The first thing I discovered was how helpful everyone is in the blogosphere. I am impressed with this community. Everyone seems to want to help their fellow bloggers make money, promote their cause or keep them up to date on the latest news whatever it may be.

Here are some of the blog sites that I have found very helpful and friendly.

Steve Pavlina’s blog Steve is a very successful blogger and his blog gives off lots of positive energy. He offers valuable information for new bloggers and everyone.

Problogger by Darren Rowse You will find tons of great tips here on earning money with your blog. The title of the blog is “Helping bloggers earn money”.

John Chow dot com is another very popular blog that offers ways to make money blogging. John is entertaining at the same time and not shy that he is making tons of money blogging. This is a fun blog to visit.

Julie Anne Bonner’s personal blog is one I check in on. I think because I can relate to her. She has great tips on blogging too. I think she is fairly new to blogging but you can see from her post that she is succeeding and it gives me hope.

Get Rich Slowly has given me some good info of the past month. I enjoy checking and see what is going on there.

Be Conscious Now has been a regular spot for me too. I enjoy this blog very much and has been very helpful with creating abundance, joy and peace in my life.

These are just a few of the blogs I have been reading daily. I am coming a crossed more blogs everyday and changing my feeds every week. If you are just getting started these are great blogs to check out.

Enjoy!

Blogging - Read, Read and Read some more!

I am new to the blogging scene and it is so exciting everyday. I am learning so much about blogging and beyond! I feel like I am at a convention for higher learning. I have my little name tag on and everyday I am meeting new people who are from different places geographically, knowledge-wise and spiritually.

I am so glad I have decided to join the excitement! Today I visited …
The Blog of Tim Ferriss. He has written a book called The Four Hour Work Week. That sounds like a great concept, doesn’t it. Get your work done Monday morning and you have the rest of the week to paint a picture, go fishing, play with your children, etc. I haven’t read the book yet but I am planning on it. I only just met him : ). Check out his post today. His concept of never having to open mail, check voice mail, basically a paperless life. Can you imagine?

His post today is on the concept of a paperless world, without telephones and voicemail. He says in can be done. Maybe we are heading toward this, I don’t know but it is very interesting.

I also visited John Chow dot com. It is a relaxed and entertaining site that is very popular. John offers tips on making money online and other random useful information. I just met him so I haven’t read many of his post but I am looking forward to digging in and learning all I can. In a post from yesterday I noticed some interesting information about John’s blog income. What caught my eye is that the graph showing John was making significantly less than $500 in September 2006 although he has been blogging for 18 months. He has had an incredible increase in revenue over the past six months! I will be checking in on his site regularly.

I popped in on doshdosh for some information on the importance of feed readers. This was one area that has taken me sometime to understand. Pre-blogging I couldn’t grasp the importance of RSS or really understand what it was, duh! This post is informative. The feed readers are most helpful for the “blog reader” more than the blogger but the blogger can keep track of subscribers and other stats plus use the feed reader for additional advertising. It’s all good!

You can see learning to monetize my blog. I am so grateful that there are so many wonderful and successful blogs sharing information. At first it was overwhelming but I can see where this is really taking off. Isn’t it exciting.

I am off to do some more reading. Do you have a blog full of useful information? Let me know.

The toddler has taken a few steps

Well, I took a few steps yesterday. I was able to get my blog set up. : ) I edited the first post and wrote a new one. Wow! By the end of the day I felt like things were really starting to click. In the evening I continued reading “Blogging for Dummies”.

A week ago I felt overwhelmed with the information that I was taking in. Today it is coming together. I as I stated in yesterday’s post, these first posts are not going to be terribly interesting as I am just get used to the routine. I have many great topics and ideas planned for my blog. I don’t want to waste good information on these first posts. They are like practice pitches.

I am planning to share the information I have learned over the past week. It has been extremely useful. There are many blogs out there with great information and resources about starting a blog. They give you tips on what to expect, what to do when you have writers block. What to do before you even start. I have found the the information for free. I was telling my husband yesterday that it is like I’ve taken a 10 week course on blogging in one week! The information available is very valuable to the preblogger!

Here are a couple of the sites I have visited and found very helpful …
www.stevepavlina.com
www.problogger.com

I have me much more to learn about tags, links, blogrolls, etc. So, I am going to hit the books. TTFN!

Back to School

Over the past few weeks I have been learning everything I can about blogging. Everyone makes it sound easy but at times I am not sure if I am getting it. I am looking forward to looking back on the “beginging” with a laugh but I am not laughing right now.

Of course, I can’t do this the easy way and go through a hosted blog site. I am learning from the ground up, creating a web site, etc. It will be better later, right?

I am using (and learning) Wordpress. So far I like it, the instructions are helpful. It is the blogging/programming jargon that is controlling the learning curve but it is exciting to learn something new. It is like going back to school or starting a new job except I don’t really have a teacher.

I apologize if my first posts are not very exciting. I feel like a toddler learning to walk. I am standing but the minute I take a step I fall on my butt.

Does anyone have any tips for getting started? I would love to hear from you.
